Today I want to talk about the power of our word combined with our will. This is our ability to consciously shift out of the evolutionary biology paradigm and live into our true Spiritual Self. This is, quite frankly, our SuperPower.

I’ve always wondered why so many people are attracted to Superhero movies. The Superhero franchises make billions and billions of dollars for those studios. I believe they are so popular because we subconsciously know we have a superpower that is waiting to be discovered and activated within us.

You know that in most Superhero movies there is a villain, who often has the same power as the hero. The villain just choses to use it for evil. The words we speak have tremendous power. They have to power to heal, and they have the power to hurt others. And I’m sure we’ve all used this power in both ways at different times in our life.

But we want to consciously channel our power in a way that is in alignment with Spiritual Principle, and for the highest good of all… rather than using our power to manipulate, coerce or control others (which is the misuse of this power.)  We see that being played out in politics, big business, and strictly patriarchal societies.

Those of us on a spiritual path — and interested in living an empowered life — want to use our Power to bring forth the highest good in our own lives, and to help bring forth peace and justice in the world, and help heal the planet.  So, let’s give ourselves the best chance to do that by activating this Power already within us.

First, we need to fully understand the various aspects of this Power.

  1. The first aspect is Concentration.  This is our ability to laser-focus our attention…to be single-minded in our approach.  This laser-focused approach gives us the capacity to achieve what we intend. Anyone who has achieved anything worthwhile knows this.

You can hone your concentration skills through anything that takes laser-focus concentration, like: learning a new skill, yoga, mantra-based meditation, a new sport, learning a new language, any kind of performance, memorization games.  Even video games.  I watch my daughters playing video games and wow, the concentration needed for that is intense. They are completely unaware of anything but that game. Then we can use that skill we’ve practiced in other areas to now laser-focus on the thing we want to create in our lives. Visualize it. Give it energy. Feel its reality now. Keep it at the forefront of your mind. Recognize…and be grateful for… any and all movement in the direction of that desire.

You know when we laser-focus, not only are we engaging our power to accomplish what we’re focused on, but we’re also creating a vibration that radiates out to others. You can feel this particularly if you are part of a team. You see this on sports teams, or even business teams, or even teams of volunteers. When one team member has engaged their Power, and is laser-focused on a goal, that energy excites others and they pick up that enthusiasm and the whole team accomplishes the goal more easily.

The next thing we need to ask is: Where is our attention? If our laser-focused attention has the power to create our experience, we need to be conscious of what we’re focused on. Are we focused on the highest possibility? Or, on what’s wrong…what’s limited, what so-and-so did to me.

Now, of course you need to look at the problem in order to address it. But once you identify it, it’s counter-productive to keep dwelling on the problem. You want to focus on the solution…on what’s possible. The outcome you want to see…the outcome you are willing to work for.

  2. That dovetails into the next aspect of Power, which is Self-Mastery. The Tao captures the essence of Self-Mastery with this saying, “He who conquers others has physical strength; he who conquers himself is strong.”

Self-Mastery is our ability to guide our thoughts, words and actions and to bring them into alignment with our Highest Intention.  In order to do that though, we first need to discover where we’re out of alignment with our Highest Divine Intention. We can discover that through self-reflection and self-exploration…by getting in touch with how we’re feeling, emotionally and physically.  Throughout the day just check in with yourself. Take a breath, take a moment and ask: What am I feeling right now? Is there tightness in my body right now? What is that about? Am I in resistance to what is? Am I feeling separate from others? Separate from my Source? Is my ego driving the bus right now?

Then once you’ve identified something, use the power of your word by stating what your intention is. Is your intention to be fully in the present moment? Then state that. Is your intention to be loving and see others as Divine Beingness having a human experience? State that. Is your intention to stay with a task until you’ve finished? State your intention. Engage your power and bring you thoughts, words and actions back to your Highest Intention. Literally feel that power in your throat chakra. Feel the vibration of your words create energy there that realigns you with your highest intention.

Let’s practice it now. Let’s speak our truth from our throat chakra. Put your hand at the base of your throat. Take a deep breath and affirm with me:

“I align all levels of my being with my Highest Intention.”

When we activate our power, we are no longer controlled by our old beliefs, fears, habits, compulsions, and attitudes that no longer serve us.  We are, simply, at choice.

By engaging our Power we activate all the focus, self-mastery and agency we need accomplish our Highest Intentions and start living into the truth that we are, not Superheroes, but Superbeings!
